Dietrich Paredes conducted his European orchestra debut with the Orchestra della Toscana at the Cortona Festival in Summer 2014, a project which resulted in an immediate re-invitations from the orchestra for their 15/16 and 16/17 subscription series in Florence. This success also led to invitations from the orchestras of the Teatro Communale in Bologna, the Opera di Roma, the Teatro Olimpico in Vincenza, I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, the Haydn Orchestra Bolzano as well as from the Maggio Musicale Festival to conduct the Carlo Maria Giulini memorial concert with the Orchestra Giovanile Italiana. Other recent guest conducting engagements included the RTE National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and the Toulon Symphony Orchestra in France.

Dietrich Paredes is the Music Director of the Caracas Symphony Orchestra, one of the flagship orchestras from El Sistema, Venezuela’s celebrated movement of youth orchestras and choirs. He began his tenure with the CSO in 2008, and together they regularly tour South America, Asia and extensively throughout Europe at prestigious venues and festivals including the Salzburg Festival, Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Dvorak Festival in Prague and the Beethovenfest in Bonn.

Dietrich Paredes has also established a strong reputation as a leader of youth orchestra projects around the world, including with the Gulbenkian Youth Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra, the Orchestra Giovaile Italiana, the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, the Barratt Due Symphony Orchestra and also at the Round Top Festival in Texas.

Dietrich Paredes was a 12/13 Conducting Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, with whom he served as assistant to Esa-Pekka Salonen, Vasily Petrenko, John Adams, as well as to Gustavo Dudamel on an extensive tour of Europe.

Also an outstanding violinist, he has participated in masterclasses with Aaron Rosand, Olivier Charlier, Margaret Pardee, Igor Oistrak, Eugene Fodor and others, as well as being concertmaster of the Youth Orchestra of Americas on extensive tours of the American continent.

As violin soloist he has performed the Tchaikovsky Violin concerto under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel and Saint-Saens Concerto No.3 under the baton of Keri-Lynn Wilson among others.
