Viet
Dao (piano)
NCE Outstanding Young Artist Award recipient for 2021 Viet Dao is 15 years old from Richmond, VA. He is a tenth grader at Mills E. Godwin High School. Viet began piano when his mother started teaching him at 8 years old. He is now studying under Dr. Maria Yefimova. Viet won the Virginia Music Teachers Association Concerto Competition in 2020 and 2021 and has also placed in numerous VMTA Bach and District Competitions. In addition, Viet plays violin and is a member of the Richmond Symphony Youth Orchestra. Outside of music and school, Viet likes to practice Taekwondo and is currently a brown belt. He also enjoys swimming laps in the pool for exercise. His other extracurriculars include reading, writing, and drawing. He is thrilled to receive this year's Young Artist Award of the National Chamber Ensemble.
