William HsiehWilliam Hsieh (piano / violin)

William, 13, is in eighth grade at Westland Middle School in Bethesda, Maryland. He started playing piano at five and is currently a student of Dr. Ivo Kaltchev. William has won topic prizes in many piano competitions, including the First Prize and the Kern Foundation Aspiration Award at the 7th Rosalyn Tureck International Bach Competition, the First Prize and the Best Chinese Work at the International Young Artist Piano Competition in Washington, DC, and the First Prize at Misbin Family Memorial Chamber Music Competition. He has also won First Prize in the intermediate division of the Marlin-Engel Piano Competition, the Ruth P. Cogen Concerto Competition, and MSMTA’s Miriam Gottlieb Piano Competition.

In 2022, he had his orchestral debut with the Levine Chamber Orchestra at THEARC theater in Washington, D.C. and performed at Cary Hall in the DiMenna Center for Classical Music in New York, the Sala Anthony Junior Soto in the Conservatoire of Music in Puerto Rico, and the Kosciuszko Foundations in D.C.

William has also participated in three editions of the Puerto Rico International Music Festival, where he had the opportunity to have lessons with renowned pianists and pedagogues such as Krzysztof Jablonski, Alexander Kobrin, Stanislav Khristenko, Michael Lewin, Jeffrey Cohen, Victor Rosenbaum, Golda Vainberg-Tatz, and Jose Ramos Santana.

In addition to playing piano, William plays violin. Outside of music, he has a profound love for aviation and aerospace.
