Beth Walenta (viola)

Violist Beth Walenta boasts a rich musical life encompassing performance, teaching, and mentorship. Her college journey began at Northwestern University with Peter Slowik, she moved on to the Juilliard School, where she earned both Bachelor's and Master's degrees in music, honing her skills under the esteemed tutelage of Heidi Castleman and Misha Amory.

Her dedication to serving her country led her to a fulfilling 21 year career with the U.S. Army Strings, where she retired in July 2023. During her service, she captivated audiences worldwide, performing for military and government leaders alongside ensembles ranging from quartets and chamber groups to orchestras and strolling strings. She performed several times as soloist with the Army Orchestra including Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante, Shluman’s Theme and Variations, and Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.6. Beyond captivating audiences, Beth served as a dedicated mentor, guiding and nurturing new musicians within the Army Band, helping them navigate their careers and unlock their full potential.

Currently, Beth shares her passion and expertise with the next generation, coaching chamber music and sectionals at Yorktown High School and at the American Youth Symphony. Additionally, she remains an active performer around the Washington DC area. Collaborations include prestigious ensembles like the National Symphony, the Washington National Opera, and the Eclipse Chamber Orchestra as well as for non- classical artists include the Eagles, Lauryn Hill, Michael Bublé, and Brothers Osborne
